No Luck No Buc

A while back, the Tampa Bay Buccaneers was hiring for a graphic artist. I was like awesome! I get to work for a major sports team and do graphic works, oh and… it was close to home. I read the job description and I felt that I was qualified for the position. The experience, check. The programs, check. The attitude, check. So I decided to apply and attach my resume to the provided email. But, there was a catch. You had to attach, in pdf format, a mock up billboard design with the line “Buccaneers Season Tickets on Sale Now, Call 800-795-BUCS.” Fair enough. So I opened up Photoshop and Illustrator and started to design the mock billboard and this is what I came up with:

I felt confident in the design and had much fun in doing it, I decided to do two mock ups. I felt they were eye catching and got to the point. Granted, all the art was from web because the job poster did not supply any images. No worries, I’m sure they just wanted to get the feel of what you can do. So I attached the designs to my resume and cover letter and sent the email.

Long story short, I heard nothing back. Not even a generic “Thank you for your interest…” reply. I guess they didn’t like it.

PS. Maybe I should have followed directions and done only one design.
